Today we travelled 250 km to the Bungle Bungles. Along the way, we stopped at the Diversion Dam for a quick look before continuing to the Bow River Bridge for our morning tea.
Jimmy and Kaz had warned us that the drive into Purnululu National Park would be two and a half hours of hell. They were absolutely right. The corrugations were horrendous, and we were amazed that the truck managed the journey without losing a wheel or two. The road was not only heavily corrugated, but also winding and hilly. We crossed several creeks, some of them surprisingly deep and full of hidden rocks.
It was worth every rattle and shake. The Bungle Bungles are so unique that, like so many of the places we visited on this trip, they are almost impossible to describe in words.
We stopped at the visitor centre, where I bought a nice shirt to remember our visit.
We enjoyed our sunset drinks from yet another spectacular lookout overlooking the Osmond Ranges. Jimmy and Kaz prepared an amazing vegetarian curry, and I have to admit it tasted just like chicken.
