Day 12 Wadi Rum – Jordan

16-Sep

We left our hotel behind to make our way to Jordan. The roads are winding through granite and sandstone mountains plus a lot of desert. Not much to see than here and there a group of camels with their herder.

The trip across the Gulf of Aqaba was smooth, getting out of Egypt and into Jordan was a different story. Security checks, passport checks followed by more security and passport checks. Eventually we got on our bus around 4:45 PM. We made a final stop before we reached Wadi Rum to have a look at the view over the valley. (And do some more souvenir shopping for those interested)

We were dropped off at the entrance of the Wadi Rum National Park where we got in utes that would take us through the desert to our camp for the night. It was an amazing ride, the rock formations are just incredible and the setting sun added some nice ambience to the scenes.

We stopped at a spot to see some 3500 year old ancient rock art and met up with a herd of camels. Eventually we arrived at the resort, were we had our dinner around 8 o’clock, the food was partly prepared in a sort underground oven. It was amazing and we were all very hungry, it went down well.
