NSW – VIC Country trip: 17 March

Another beautiful day in country NSW at our fabulous campsite… The weather has been perfect for whatever we want to do.  We rode into Gulgong to see some of its history.  We decided to do some of the historic town walk, to be completed tomorrow (we think).

We spent quite a bit of time at the start in the pioneer museum (which is huge) and then took in some of the other buildings which have been very well kept or renovated to their original state and we enjoyed the walk.

We had a lovely lunch at the Prince of Wales Hotel (also one of the historic buildings) out in the beer garden.

And still the weather is wonderful (23°C) as we sit under our awning and get ready for another sensational sunset, gorgeous blue wrens visiting (a bit too quick for us to digitally capture)!

Given the beautiful clear sky, Arno will definitely set up his ‘star tracker’ to take time-delay pictures so that hopefully we can all be amazed by the changing night sky… (hopefully, pictures to follow).

The picture on the left shows part of the Milky Way as it now arches over the Southern hemisphere (note: these images are straight from the camera, no editing at all). The right picture is an 85 seconds exposure (anything above 20 secs on my camera and the mounted 14 mm lens will show star stripes instead of dots) with the camera mounted on my star tracker to compensate for the earth rotation. Tomorrow I’ll try to shoot a panorama of the Milky Way from east to west as it is visible from here.
